404Ware Returns & Faults Policy

All items at 404ware.com are produced on demand. Returns or exchanges are accepted only where there is a genuine manufacturing fault, production error, or damage in transit. We do not accept returns for change of mind, incorrect sizing (unless faulty), or aesthetic preference. This policy does not affect your statutory rights.

Important:

  • Transit damage must be reported within 48 hours of delivery. This 48-hour window is a strict time limit.
  • All other faults must be reported within 28 days of delivery.

1) How to report a fault or transit damage

Email hello@404ware.com with:

  • Your order number
  • A brief description of the issue
  • Clear photos showing the defect or damage (include the label/print area and outer packaging if damaged)

2) What qualifies (and what doesn’t)

We accept claims when any of the following apply:

  • A manufacturing defect (e.g., misprint, misalignment, missing or damaged design)
  • Damage incurred during shipping (reported within the strict 48-hour window)
  • Any verified production issue not caused by customer action

We cannot accept returns for:

  • Change of mind, wrong size, or dislike of fit/colour
  • Detailed measurements are on every product page. 
  • Errors from incorrect customisation or artwork supplied by you
  • Wear & tear, accidental damage, or misuse after delivery

3) Approval & next steps

All claims are subject to inspection and approval by 404Ware and our manufacturing partner.

  1. We review your claim and confirm whether it qualifies.
  2. If a return is required, we’ll send you a return address via email. Please do not send anything back before you receive written authorisation.
  3. Unauthorised returns may be refused or returned to sender.
  4. Once inspected and confirmed, we will provide either:
    • a replacement (same or equivalent item), or
    • a full refund to your original payment method (if a replacement isn’t possible).

4) Refunds & processing times

Refunds are made to your original payment method once a return (if required) is received and verified. We aim to process refunds within 14 days of confirmation.

5) Shipping & address issues

If a parcel is returned due to an incorrect or incomplete address, we can arrange re-shipment once additional postage is paid. Please ensure your delivery details are accurate at checkout; misdeliveries are not considered faults.

6) Your legal rights

Under UK consumer law, you have the right to reject faulty or misdescribed goods within 30 days of receipt for a full refund. After 30 days, you may be entitled to a repair or replacement; if that isn’t possible, a refund may apply. Because all 404Ware products are made to order, change-of-mind returns are not permitted under the exemption for bespoke/personalised goods.
